“In every career there are certain peaks,” Osmond explains, “and my time in Toronto was definitely a peak.” He admits his career had taken a nosedive before he made his debut as Joseph in the Canadian production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in the early ’90s, and credits Toronto (where the show ran for almost 18 months) for putting a “stamp of legitimacy” on his comeback. He’s excited to return to the city this summer, when he and his sister perform their Vegas act for two weeks in July.

WHY HE LOVES SHOWBIZ
Because it still scares him. Anything specifically? “Tonight’s show!” he roars over the phone. He explains he’s introducing a new number, a reenactment of the 1971 hit “Yo Yo.” “We’re doing a lot of the same dance moves from 40 years ago, then adding a hip hop twist at the end,” he says. “Now I’m a grandpa and I have to keep up with 20-year-old dancers – and I do!”

WHY HE LOVES HIS FANS
Osmond says everyone from kids to grandparents comes to his shows. “I’ll tell you a story you’ll love. When I won Dancing with the Stars [in 2009], I was meeting with fans after the finale. I could see this 10-year-old boy waiting patiently in line and when he finally got to me, he blurted out, ‘I didn’t know you could sing too!’” Osmond laughs. “Isn’t that great?” – sarah moore moncler online
