I’m always nervous about a new collection.” Confides Dundee-born designer Graeme Black when we catch up with him at the former Berlin train station the Hamburger Bahnhof, where he’s showing his first collection for Boss Black women swear, the high-end line for Hugo Boss. herve leger dresses for sale
But he has very little to be nervous about. The divinely charming Scot is a fave of the fashion world, thanks to his much-lauded and wildly successful eponymous label (launched in 2005- and currently on hold so he can concentrate fully on his new project), which had a reputation for chic, luxe, wearale designs beloved by everyone from Victoria Beckham and Elle Macpherson to Rosamund Pike and Yasmin Le Bon.
As one of the industry’s most modest characters, though, he believes that it has taken him at least 20years to understand properly what women want, and he credits much of his success to stints with British designers Zandra Rhodes and John Galliano. Not to mention the seven years he spent at Giorgio Armani in Milan, where he became head of women swear, and his time as chief designer at Salvatore Ferragamo.
His inaugural a/w collection sees him right in his high-octane element – with a star-studded front row featuring everyone from Hilary Swank (working a hot fuchsia minidress ) toMatt Dillon and racing driver Jenson Button, with girlfriend Jessica Michibata (ethereal in a stunning grey, floor-length silk sheath) in his designs. Models float down the catwalk in a sophisticated palette of plum, grey, black and nude, sporting louche soft-as-butter thigh-high suede boots and long gloves, embellished silk tops, neatly cut jackets, playful pussy-bow blouses and deftly cropped high-waisted trousers. It’s relaxed elegance at its very finest. We grabbed some time with Graeme backstage to find out what makes this runway favourite tick.
What made you want to become a fashion designer?
“I won the crochet prize at school! I’ve always been very creative- I loved knitting and crocheting. I did home economics, pottery, crafts and drawing classes, and I used to design clothes for my sister. I’m not sure where my creativity came from. I grew up on my grandfather’s farm in Barry, just outside Carnoustie [in Scotland], my brother is in banking and my father was a bookbinder by trade!

Lil Wayne may have a lil illegitimate kid running around — this according to a Missouri woman who hit Weezy with paternity papers while the rapper was serving time at Rikers Island.
Weezy — who’s already fathered 4 kids that he’s aware of — allegedly sired another child back in 2002 … and now the 8-year-old’s grandmother obtained a court order requiring Wayne to submit to a DNA test.
According to the legal papers, obtained by TMZ, Weezy was supposed to get tested before September 10, 2010 … but since he was behind bars at the time he got the letter (dated August 20), the judge pushed the deadline to December 9.
The woman going after Wayne doesn’t explain why her daughter isn’t pursuing the test herself — in fact, the birth mother’s name isn’t even listed on the documents.
Calls to Wayne’s camp have not been returned.
